How does the cycling work?

How does the cycling work?

Whether you're new to cycling or a seasoned rider, this event is for you!

Cycling for All: Summer Softies, Weekend Warriors & Race-Hard Roadies

It’s like planting a tree. The best time was around 20 years ago; the next-best time is today! You don’t need to be a green-fingered expert to put an acorn in the ground, and you don’t need to be an Über-Cyclist to enjoy MeetSleepCycle – although Ironmen and race-hard roadies are all welcome!

If you no longer need the under-five stabilisers, love the fresh-air rush, the in-moment exhilaration,  turning a pedal up close and personal with nature in sublime scenery, discovering new places, meeting new people and moving under your own steam – then MeetSleepCycle is for you.

I enjoy riding my bike but I’m not a ‘Proper Cyclist’ – I’m unsure if this is for me…

If you can safely manage a city-bike, are happy riding with others in expertly-guided small groups and enjoy the shared experience of cycling – with friends, family or fellow-commuters, then MeetSleepCycle is designed for you. Just turn the pedals – we do all the rest and, if you need a renewable power-boost for the hills, we have the technology!

It’s not all about the bike, we’re Making Events Healthy Again in more ways than one. JoinTheGreenRide & Join the Revolution, it will move your business and it may change your life!

    • Lanterne Rouge (Leisure) – with similar-paced cyclists and frequent stops, controlled by expert MSC guides and pro-level road support throughout. Short transfer to start-point of the carefully-planned route, finishing in Bohinj (Day 2) & Bled (Day 3)

Welcome to the Green Ride, Welcome to the Meetings Revolution!

Still have Questions?

Do I need to bring my own bike?

No. We’ll have top-class brands ridden by UCI World Tour teams in both road & e-bike types. If you really prefer to bring your own bike that is also possible but at your own arrangement & expense.

What sort of distances will I need to ride?

  • Lanterne-Rouge, Approx. 30km – with frequent stops, in small groups of similar-paced cyclists and all the pro-level support described above. Short transfer to a different start-point on a carefully-planned route.
  • Peloton, Approx. 50km – maximum enjoyment, great scenery, avoiding the toughest hills.
  • Rouleurs, Approx. 50+km – including memorable climbs, thrilling descents & epic scenery

How will I know which group to join?

You select your appropriate group once attendance is confirmed and after viewing routes/distances on our website. You can also consult us for detailed, personal advice. There will be a cut-off date in advance of the event for any changes in group preference.

What about the roads and traffic?

Our cycling routes are through beautiful, national park scenery in a country with one of Europe’s lowest population-densities – and where locals are accustomed to cyclists enjoying their spectacular scenery. Slovenia also has an extensive network of traffic-free cycling routes which we’ll use for parts of the tour.

Like any active sport or pastime, the chance of accidents is always present when cycling but usually occurs through rider-error rather than traffic accidents. We provide experienced, professional personnel at all stages and it is mandatory to attend briefings, follow MSC team instructions and to respect fellow-cyclists at all times for a safe, enjoyable, event experience.

What gear will I need? I just can’t see myself in lycra!

No problem at all. Regular sports-kit will also work fine although we would recommend fit-for-purpose road or MTB cycling shorts/tights. You can select flat pedals to be fitted to your bike, so no need to be accustomed to bike shoes or cleats. Helmets are compulsory at all times and we can give personal advice on all the gear, including options to purchase anything essential.

It sounds brilliant but can I talk to someone to learn more before applying?

Of course, we’re always available (unless we’re out riding our bikes!) and you’ll be able to connect via our dedicated MSC delegate platform or mail us: jointheride@meetsleepcycle.com

Anything else I need to know?

We only have 30 supplier & 30 buyer places across all of Europe with a number of participants already committed. MSC26 will be over-subscribed so don’t hang around. Complete the interest-form and we’ll be in touch to see whether or not MeetSleepCycle is right for you.
